Arrear levies: act early and consistently

Why a clear collections process protects every owner in the scheme.

Arrears affect the whole community

Levies fund services, insurance, maintenance and administration. When accounts remain unpaid, compliant owners may carry additional pressure and planned work may be delayed.

Use a documented process

A clear policy should set out reminders, escalation points, payment arrangements and legal referral. Consistency reduces confusion and helps the board show that owners are treated fairly.

Accurate records come first

Statements, allocations, interest and correspondence must be correct before escalation. Small administrative errors can create unnecessary disputes and delay recovery.

Engage early, escalate responsibly

Early contact may resolve genuine oversights or short-term difficulties. Where payment is not made, the scheme should follow its approved process without allowing the account to drift indefinitely.
